Obituary of Frank Shelton

Frank Horton Shelton, 92, of Bedford and formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008 in the Elk's National Home in Bedford. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Hamilton Shelton. Born July 7, 1915 in Lynchburg, Mr. Shelton was the son of the late Frank Thornton and Bessie Mae Horton Shelton. He was a graduate of New London Academy and Lynchburg College, receiving his degree in math and physics in 1941. He was retired from the Social Security Administration and also worked in his earlier years with Lynchburg Foundry and the Veteran's Administration. He was a long time and devoted member of Fort Hill United Methodist Church, the Civitan Club and B.P.O. Elk's Lodge #715. He proudly served in the United States Army. Mr. Shelton is survived by his son, Thomas Hamilton Shelton of Roanoke; one brother, Murrell T. Shelton and his wife Edith of Forest; two grandchildren, David T. Shelton and Mary D. Shelton , both of Roanoke. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ella Mae Jackson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. David Rash officiating. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
