Obituary of Audrey Dillard Cary

Audrey Thomas Dillard Cary, of Lynchburg, died on March, 26 2023, at Westminster Canterbury. She was the daughter of Margaret Bay and Harry Thomas of Lynchburg.

Audrey graduated from EC Glass High School and Phillips Business College with honors.  She won the Girls tennis championship at Glass for three consecutive years and enjoyed this sport until late in life.  She was a member of Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church and Oakwood Garden Club. She was retired from the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William G. Dillard and her second husband, George Douglas Miller Cary, daughter Martha Dillard Pettyjohn, son William G. Dillard Jr., sister Hope Thomas Shelton and brother Harry Thomas Jr.

Audrey is survived by her son Thomas Quinn Dillard and wife Mary, Grandchildren; Kate Barton, Will Dillard and Joseph Dillard, Great Grandchildren; Bailey Connor, Justin Connor, Blake Gibson, Bodie Dillard, Greyson Dillard, Linkin Dillard, stepchildren; Louise Cary Ragland, Douglas Miller Cary, Elizabeth Cary Spell and seven step-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday March 31^st at 2:30 at The Amherst Cemetery.
