Obituary of Edith Winona Bassil

Edith Winona Bassil , Fairport, NY (Lynchburg, VA) passed peacefully Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the age of 105.

Born Oct 26, 1917, in Canada she moved to Pulaski by horse drawn sleigh.  She met her husband Vaseleos Kosmos “Bill” Bassil where they retired to Lynchburg, VA. She loved all animals especially Elephants and Cats.

She was one of 13 siblings and is survived by two sisters, Audrey (BoBo) Mahley and Hazel Simpson, Daughter Joyce (Lawrence) Ritchie of Fairport NY and Son Robert (Stella) Cargo of Lynchburg VA, 6 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours and a Family Funeral service will be held graveside at Spring Hill Cemetery, 3000 Fort Ave, Lynchburg, Virginia where she will be entombed with her husband William “Bill” Bassil of 48 years.
