Obituary of Joyce Thacker Mitchell

On January 19, 2023, the angels sang as Joyce Thacker Mitchell “Granny” went home to be with her Lord and Savior. 

Born January 24, 1939, to the late Leroy Thacker and Violet Hunt Thacker. 

Joyce was preceded in death by her three brothers, Ronnie Lee, Wayne Eugene and Wesley Thacker; one sister, Violet Virginia Thacker and one granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Mitchell. 

She is survived by her loving children, her daughter, Teresa M. Hogan-Wayne and her son, David Wyatt Mitchell-Sharon. 

She leaves behind seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren that she adored. 

The family will receive family and friends at Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory-Waterlick Chapel, 21914 Timberlake Rd. Lynchburg, VA 24502 on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm. 

There will be a graveside service conducted on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
