Obituary of Shirley Morcom Staton

Shirley Morcom Staton, 85, of Madison Heights, VA, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, at Guggenheimer Nursing and Rehab after a brief illness. She was the widow of Robbin Edward “Bobby” Staton. 

Born November 4, 1937, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late George Alfred and Viola Lewis Stinnett Morcom. She was a long time and dedicated member of Madison Heights Baptist Church and retired from C&P Telephone Company. She enjoyed serving in the church, traveling and spending time with her family.  

She is survived by one brother, Danny Lee Morcom and his wife, Norma, of Athens, GA and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her children. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Donald Morcom and James Edward Morcom. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 10-11 A.M. at Madison Heights Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Briarwood Memorial Park.
