No one could ever ask for a better friend than Evelyn Stickley. She welcomed me into her life, home and circle without knowing very well. I will miss chatting and going out to eat with her, and just being in her sphere. In addition, I’ll definitely miss her key lime pie and Christmas cinnamon rolls. Happy birthday Evelyn 10.21.22 :-)
My condolences to the family. Evelyn and her husband Bob were good friends and great advocates for Civil Rights and Social Justice here in Lynchburg. Evelyn worked with the Lynchburg Community Action Group (LynCAG) under Reverend Haywood Robinson, Jr. in the 1960s. She was a pioneer. We were both members of St. John's Episciopal Church, that at that time was led by Rev. Jack Spong ( later to become Bishop Jack Spong).

One of the loveliest human beings I have ever been honored to know. Evelyn was a tireless fighter for the suffering and the underdog, who took on unpopular causes because of her profound sense of justice. I envied her courage, he toughness, her perseverance—all combined with a sweetness and a smile that lit up a room. I will miss her profoundly and will be forever grateful that she so enriched my life. My love and sympathy to Evelyn’s beautiful family.
