Obituary of Shirley Daniel Fleshman

On the evening of August 8, 2022 Shirley D. Fleshman, age 94, transferred her membership to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior.

Shirley was born November 24, 1927 to the late Basil Davis Daniel and Mary Stephens Daniel.  She is also predeceased by her son, Harold Davis (Dave) Burgess and the father of her children, Harold P. Burgess.

At an early age, Shirley accepted Jesus Christ and became an active member of Fairview Christian Church.  During her 85+ years there she served in many capacities of leadership, Sunday school and the choir.  In the community she was active in the National Secretaries Association, and United Commercial Travelers.  Shirley was an avid bridge player and member of the Fort Hill Women’s Club.  She retired from Mead Paperboard Products (RockTen).

Shirley will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She is survived by her husband, James E. “Jimmie” Fleshman; daughter, Stephany B. Weigand (Willie) and Joanie Wood (Buddy).

Shirley adored her grandchildren; Nici Campbell, Kimberly D. Smith (Paul), Deborah L. Bond (James), and Slade Simpson (Casey).  She had two great-grandchildren, Kylee Marie and Paul, III.

Service of remembrance will be at Fairview Christian Church on Saturday, August 13, at 2:00 P.M. with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service.  Internment will be at Fort Hill Memorial Park immediately following.
