Obituary of Lois Maria Layne Mason

Lois Maria Layne Mason, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home July 24, 2022.
She was the widow of Edward F. Mason. They shared 67 years of marriage and many
adventures together.

Born in Evington, VA to James and Burtchel Layne on August 24, 1929, she was their
sixth and youngest child. Her parents, brothers and sisters have all preceded her to
Glory. She is survived by her two children, Edward M. Mason of Forest, VA, Christine
Mason Borchers (Greg) of Frisco, TX, three beloved grandchildren; Jacob Borchers
(Victoria) of The Colony, TX, Sarah Borchers (Mark) of Caddo Mills, TX, and Rachel
Rasco (Brandon) of Fayetteville, GA, two wonderful great-grandsons, James and
Hudson, and numerous treasured nieces and nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews; all who were very dear to her.

One of her proudest accomplishments was earning an RN degree from Lynchburg
General Hospital. She worked in different hospital departments throughout the years,
and her skills excelled in pediatrics. This was obvious in her years of being a
professional Nurse but also as a mother, friend, Sunday School teacher, and church
nursery worker.

She loved shopping, painting, reading, and especially spending time with friends and
family. Lois read her bible every day. Her favorite activity in later years was playing
putt-putt with her crazy awesome group of friends!

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 (visitation 1:15 - 2:00) on Friday, July 29th at Salem
