Obituary of Henry Tuck Burford

Henry Tuck Burford, 73, of Leesburg Virginia, passed away on January 18, 2022, with his three sons by his side.

Henry was born in Alexandria Hospital on Sunday, October 17, 1948.   Henry grew up in Annandale Virginia and graduated from W.T. Woodson Highschool in 1968. 

Henry met his future wife, Sherry, while they both performed in the band “Sonny and the Shadows”.  Henry played the bass guitar.  They later married in June, 1970 and were only 2 months short of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary when Sherry passed in 2020.  

Henry attended George Washington University where he graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree.  Henry was a modest man with a rare work ethic.  He rarely spoke of his own accomplishments.   In his career, Henry was awarded several patents for his companies.  In his early career, Henry traveled a lot installing fancy equipment in different cities.  He worked on sorting machines, news print machines, and radio frequency devices, and telecommunications technology (cell phones).  In the latter part of his career, Henry referred to himself as an "RF Engineer", which stands for "radio frequency".  He was one of the pioneers to develop digital RF networks technology which cell phones use to communicate.

Henry loved his wife and his sons and his grand kids.

In his professional career Henry worked for Crossfield Electronics, AMF, Log E Systems, Aiken Advanced Systems, Nextel, and Sprint.

Henry is survived by his two sisters Barbara and Jean, and children William, Jack (Keli) and Michael; and grandchildren Sydney and Robert.  

Henry is dearly loved and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Scheduled for Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 2:00 pm; Henry Tuck Burford will be interred at the “Centenary Cemetery”, in Amherst County VA, where many loved ones of the Burford Ancestry now “Rest in peace”.
