Richardson Jr, James (Len, Lennie)

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Lennie Richardson of Lynchburg VA on August 27, 2021 after a battle with Covid.  Len was 63 years old.   He was born in Portsmouth VA and moved with this family to Lynchburg in 1960.  He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janet Layne Richardson. Parents Jim and Diane Richardson. Two sisters Karen (Jody) Reynolds and Christy (Scott) Burger.  Father and mother-in-law Milton and Brenda Layne, brothers-in-law Milton and David (Jennifer) Layne.  10 nieces and nephews: Carson (Melissa) and Bryce Reynolds, Andrew and Daniel Burger, Samantha, Owen, Johnathan (Kristen), Christine, Daniel and Sabrina Layne. One very special friend Donnie McInturff.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Guy and Katherine Gettier.

Len graduated from Brookville High School in 1976. He was employed as a Business Development Specialist with Stand UP Inc.

Lennie always had such a zest for life and was born with an adventurous soul. In his younger days he always loved playing sports, hang gliding, and sailing.  He was previously a commercial hot air balloon pilot and operated High Adventures Ballooning for several years. He loved kayaking and fishing.  His happiest place was being at the beach.

Due to Covid a Celebration of Len's life will be held at a later date.

Len enjoyed life, family and friends and was always there to brighten the lives of others.  He was a kind and loving husband, son, brother and friend.  He will be so missed.
