My deepest condolences and prayers of comfort for Catherine and the family. I first met Mary Frances through our Centra Hospice classes and it was a joy to be in her company at the sessions and many luncheons we all attended. May her memory be a blessing.

While I did not know Mary Francis well, she was older, the one thing I remember about her was her smile and her laugh. What a blessing she has been to those who’ve had the fortune of knowing her. She will be missed.

Remembrances of Mary Frances Wood . . .
I can say with certainty that Mary Frances was my favorite cousin, my special relative and sister of the heart. Both of us grew up in Richmond, Virginia and we both attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Westhampton College. And, we both have the school rings to prove it. We were 13 years apart, however. I think my most treasured thing about Mary Frances was her laugh. It was unmistakable and full of joy. She was always gracious and able to find a lightness in the moment. In her later years after her beloved Buddy died and she moved to Westminster Canterbury two loves occupied her time and attention: genealogy and quilting. Many of you know that she was a certified genealogist and spent many happy days and nights going down the various rabbit holes of family history. This passion she shared with my husband who is also a genealogist. They had many lively discussions about the Bethel family. Over the years Mary Frances gifted us with some of her lovely quilt pieces. I’ll share photos of a few of them. And, a favorite picture is Mary Frances at her 90th birthday party wearing a diamond tiara. She lived a full and vital life, giving generously. We shall miss her laugh and her light in the world.

We will miss Mary Frances. She was especially kind to us when we were relatively new to this area.
