Obituary of Shirley Witt Phillips

Shirley Marie Witt Phillips, 91, of Evington, VA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 14, 2021. Shirley was born in Campbell County, VA on March 7, 1929 to the late Sydney J. Witt and Lola Swain Dobyns Witt. Shirley was the loving wife of the late Lee Ernest Phillips and is survived by her three loving daughters, Rose Marie Cox (Rickey), Janice Goode (Bob), and Gail Wooldridge. Shirley is also survived by her sisters; Jean Hall and Phyllis Hall. In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her grandson, Wyatt A. Cox III. Shirley’s legacy lives on in her cherished grandchildren; Gina Davis, Tara Salmon, Heather Wood, Troy Owen, Rickey Daniel Jr., and Amy Johnson. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the Centra Hospice staff and her caregivers for their loving and devoted care. A public viewing will take place on Thursday, February, 18, 2021 at Diuguid-Waterlick Chapel from 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2021 at Langhorne Chapel Community Church with Pastor Dwight Weaver officiating. The family will be receiving visitors one hour prior. Burial will immediately follow at Leffler Memorial Community Cemetery, 15804 Leesville Road, Evington, VA 24550. Social distancing and safety precautions must be observed at the funeral home and church.
