Lynette James

Obituary of Lynette Dianne James

Lynette Dianne James, 55, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021.

She is survived by her father Lewis A. James, Jr.; brother Lewis “L.A.” James, III and his daughter Haleigh James; sister Dawn James-Cappiello, her husband Chris Cappiello, and children Kelsey and Austin Cappiello; sister Meghan Farley, her husband Matt Farley, and daughters Mia and McKenna Farley. She also leaves behind her companion Ronnell Davis and—last and certainly not least—her beloved cats Maow-Maow and George. She was preceded in death by her mother Dianne A. James.

Impatient to make her mark on the world, Lynette was born six weeks prematurely to Lewis and Dianne James in 1965. She was tenacious, a survivor, with a buoyant enthusiasm for life. The youngest of three siblings, Lynette was a gregarious, friendly, social, and active girl. She has often deemed the life of the party and relished the opportunity to put a smile on someone’s face.

After attending E.C. Glass High School, Lynette left Lynchburg to fulfill her dream of living in Myrtle Beach, SC. Later, she moved to Silver Spring, Maryland where she worked, lived, loved, and made lasting friends. Eventually, she returned to finish her abbreviated but full life back in her hometown of Lynchburg.

Lynette is remembered as a generous, kind-hearted, and affable woman. She cared for her ailing Granddaddy in the twilight of his days and did the same for local aging neighbors. When neighborhood stray cats gave birth in her garage, Lynette made sure they didn’t stay homeless. She took great enjoyment from spreading her love and warmth to all she could.

Lynette’s vivacious and fun-loving personality will be remembered and missed by all who knew her. She delighted in spending time with her family, reminiscing, and telling stories. Her passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of her family.
