Obituary of Otis Lee Durham, Jr.

Otis Lee Durham, Jr. (OL) after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, peacefully went home to with the Creator on April 5, 2020.  He was born in Wytheville, VA, October 23, 1938. He is survived by his wife, Carole Wohlford Durham, 18 days short of their 55th Wedding Anniversary, their two sons, Otis Lee Durham, III (Lee), Michael Alan Durham; granddaughter, Leah Jones; grandson, Austin Lee Durham; brothers, Bill Durham, Chimer Durham (Deloris) of Wytheville, VA and Paxton Durham (Bonita) of Vinton.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Marie Durham and his sister, Alis Anuszewski.

OL came to Lynchburg to work for GE and Ericsson, retiring at age 58.

OL served in the US Army, was a ham radio operator (K4NRF), a Boy Scout Leader for 50 years, a Traditional Native American Dancer, and an amazing artist. His artistic abilities included beadwork, stone carving, woodworking, drawing, ceramics, and carving walking sticks. He loved large projects that would seem impossible to the average person.  He loved Jet Skiing with his boys at Holden Beach, NC since 1971.  He loved our mountain house in Amherst, VA.
