Obituary of Pansy Bumgarner Porter
Pansy Bumgarner Porter, 95, of Forest, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Rustburg after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late James I. Porter.
Born July 4, 1923 in Cove Creek, NC, she was a daughter of the late Christopher Alexander and Rebecca Grogan Bumgarner. She was retired from K-Mart after 24 years of service and a member of Living Word Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, David A. Porter (Linda) of Durham, NC ; four daughters, Judy Phillips (Ray) of Rustburg, Mary Logwood (Glenn) of Forest, Sally Meeks (Gary) of Rustburg and Patsy Brady (Kenneth) of Evington; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two brothers, James Bumgarner (Marilyn) and Abner Bumgarner.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Dallas Bumgarner, Lonnie Bumgarner, Marvin Bumgarner, Clinton Bumgarner, Maynard Bumgarner and Edward Bumgarner; two sisters, Essie Bumgarner Paulett and Rebecca Mae Owen; one grandson, Brian Meeks.
The family wishes to thank the Centra Hospice staff, Rebecca, Olinca, Vicki , Barbara and all of the hospice team for their loving and dedicated care.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor Marvin Suitt officiating.
