Obituary of Gladys McFaden
On Sunday, November 4, 2018, Gladys Nickerson McFaden, born April 20, 1918, died peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Dot and Neil Novak.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Berkley McFaden Sr., two sons, James Lee McFaden and John Williams McFaden; two daughters, Mary McFaden Creasey and Jean McFaden Keys, one grandson, James Neil Novak. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Arra and Charles Nickerson; two brothers and six sisters.
Gladys leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Berkley McFaden (Nancy), Joe McFaden (Wilma) and Dot Novak (Neil); 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
Gladys lived most of the last two years at Valley View Retirement Home where she made some wonderful friends, both with the residents and the staff. She had a special relationship with her “roommate”, Jeanette Collet.
Gladys also had a special place in her heart for her church of 60 plus years, Boonsboro United Methodist Church and all her church family.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Boonsboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Amy Beth Coleman officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12-1 PM. Burial will be in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank Seven Hills Hospice and all of their loving staff for their support and care during the last several months.
