Obituary of Janice "Bamba" Kay Hayes

Janice “Bambaw” Kay Petersen Hayes, 70, of Lynchburg, passed away, Monday, October 8, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas Franklin Hayes.

Born May 12, 1948 in Chicago, IL, she was a daughter of the late Roy W. and Kathryn Males Petersen. Janice was a graduate of Silver Cross Hospital School of Nursing and retired from Centra Health as a registered nurse.

She is survived by two daughters, Meegan Bozeman Reynolds, of Rustburg, VA and Maura Bozeman (Ariel Yan) of New Haven, CT; two step-sons, Tommy Hayes of Lynchburg, VA and Robert Hayes of St. Petersburg, FL; one brother, Richard Petersen (Brenda) of Chicago, IL; one sister, Carol Petersen Brennan of Waynesville, NC; four grandchildren, Cheyenne Chandler (Corey), Dalton Reynolds, Rhyan Reynolds and Reagan Reynolds; one great-granddaughter, Hensley Lynn Chandler; and her beloved pet, "Lizzie"  In addition to her husband, Tom, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Shane Bozeman.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lynchburg Humane Society, 1211 Graves Mill Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis Roberts officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
