Obituary of Benjamin` Wesley Green, Jr.

Benjamin Wesley Green, Jr., 75, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018. He was born in Lynchburg, November 24, 1942.
    Ben has joined his fellow Marine brothers whom fell during the Vietnam War and since then due to cancer and other diseases as a result of Agent Orange.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Crank Green and three sons, Wes Green and wife Shannon and four children, Harley, Sebastian, Abbie and Carson; Ward Green and wife Blair and Will Green.
    He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Green and wife, Kay and their children and grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Melba Crank and three brother-in-laws, Charles Crank and wife, Linda, Steve Crank and wife, Connie; Brian Crank and wife, Becky. Also many nieces and nephews and their children.
    Ben proudly served in the Marines from 1964-1967. In the past 10 years, he has enjoyed participating in platoon reunions with the Marines he served with in Vietnam.
    After growing up in Lynchburg, Ben graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1962, and went to work at a local Boy Scout camp. Upon his return from Vietnam, he worked at the Highway Department, Mayes Engineering and Wiley-Wilson, where Ben made many life-long friends. He was a proud member of First Christian Church, where he loved volunteering on the property committee and being a part of the diaconate team for many years.
    There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at First Christian Church, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends after the service. You are welcome to wear casual clothes like beach wear or anything you feel most comfortable.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Property Committee, First Christian Church, 3109 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24503.
