Obituary of James Walker Trent

James “Jim” Walker Trent, 86, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his home. He was the husband to Celia Schmincke Trent of 59 years.

Born December 19, 1931, in Bedford, VA, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Louise Keith Trent. He attended New London Academy. Jim began his career as a farmer then moved on to Lynchburg Foundry. He was later with American Breeder Service of Central Virginia and he was also a talented craftsman and finishing contractor. He was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church and also attended Blue Ridge Community Church. Jim was also a member of Moose Lodge # 1727. He loved hunting, fishing, dancing and carpentry as well as time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Celia, he is survived by three children, Debra Bowers, Donna Trent and Rick Trent and his wife, Christy; four grandchildren, Daniel Bowers and his wife, Jessica, Derek Bowers and his wife, Aundrea, Haley Trent and her fiancé, Chase Anderson, Lexi Trent; three great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Gavin, and Brayden; one sister, Rachel Abbott. He was pre-deceased by one brother, Robert Trent and one brother-in-law,Winston Abbott.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev, Dan G. Mason officiating.
