Obituary of Phyllis Anne Beckstrom

Phyllis Anne Black Beckstrom answered the Lord’s call on June 4, 2018 at Guggenheimer Health and Rehab in Lynchburg, Virginia.  She was born October 3, 1948 in Lynchburg, VA, the daughter of the late John Henry and Mamie Farrar Black.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Beckstrom and her sister, Debra Jean Black.  A heartfelt thanks to the staff of Guggenheimer and the Hospice care she received her last few days.

 
She is survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Frances B. and Stanley Helmintoller; her nephew Scott and his wife Angie, their children Johnathan Brady,  J.D., Christopher and Emma Helmintoller; her niece Holly and her husband Joe Choo and their daughter, Zoe.  She is also survived by a favorite aunt and uncle Norma and John Morrell and a multitude of cousins, special among them are Norman Black and Scott Morrell.

 

Phyllis Anne Black was a 1967 graduate of Rustburg High School.  Phyllis and Donald Wayne raised and showed apricot miniature poodles under the kennel name Amberbeck.  In the last twenty years they raised miniature pinchers.  She was a retiree of SunTrust Bank in Norfolk, Virginia.  After her husband’s passing she moved back to Concord to live with her sister Debra.


A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Concord Cemetery, Phoebe Pond Road, Concord, Virginia with the Rev. Frank W. Casper officiating.  Burial will follow in the cemetery.
