Grief Support Groups

Every 2nd Tuesday at 6:00pm-7:30pm starting February 14th-December 12th
Community Room of Diuguid Funeral Services

We've heard that "grief shared is grief halved" and that "grief is love with no place to go." We also know that grief is not limited to experiencing the loss of a loved one: we may grieve any time that life throws us a curveball and things don't work out the way we'd planned. Please join us in the Community Room of Diuguid Funeral Services on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm-7:30pm to share your grief with others, to take a moment to sit quietly with it, or to simply have a cup of coffee before going about your evening. All are welcome, and no grief is too large or too small to share.

Recurring dates: February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 12, October 10, November 14, and December 12.

End-of-life doulas are professionals trained to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to individuals who are facing chronic illness, from diagnosis through hospice care and beyond. Their role is to provide comfort and support to the person and their family during the dying process. While funeral directors are an important part of the death industry, they cannot offer the same level of support as a death doula. Funeral directors are typically called upon after a death has occurred and are responsible for many of the logistics surrounding a death. On the other hand, death doulas work with clients throughout the dying process to provide support and guidance.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a chronic or terminal illness, now is the perfect time to reach out to a death doula. These professionals can provide invaluable support at any stage of the dying process. They can help with end-of-life arrangements, provide emotional comfort and support, and help with after-death care. Death doulas are not medical professionals, so they cannot offer medical advice or perform any medical procedures. However, they can be a valuable resource for information and support.

If you are interested in having a death doula, the best time to start is before a diagnosis is made. This way, you can be sure that you have the support you need from the beginning of the process. If you’re interested in finding a death doula, please call The Nursing Post, LLC as their staff can help you. They are professionally trained doulas. Remember, death is inevitable, but having the right support can make all the difference during this difficult time.

Drop-Boxes at our Locations for Cards, Thank You Notes

We know that things feel different right now, but we want to help our friends remember that kindness has not been cancelled. With schools being closed and our governor having issued an executive order to stay at home, it is now more important than ever to keep our hearts and minds engaged, and to show our thanks and support to members of our community who are on the front lines of this crisis. We also want to continue to show our support and friendship to residents of area senior care facilities whose lives are enriched by visits, activities, and mail, all of which have been restricted.

We are setting up a drop-box at both our Wiggington and Timberlake locations to accept cards and thank you letters. This would be a great activity for those with kids at home, or anyone wanting to spread some kindness! The drop boxes are contact-free and accessible 24 hours a day. Simply swing by while you are out on your essential errands. Please do indicate whether your items should be distributed to our fearless care providers or to our sweet senior citizens.

At Diuguid, we strive to be good stewards of our community in both good times and bad, and every act of kindness counts.
