Barrett Nicole Cumby

Barrett Nicole Cumby, 35, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital after a sudden illness.

Born May 2, 1982 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of Harry Glenn Cumby and the late Melva Dodson Cumby. She was a member of The Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene and a graduate of Central Virginia Community College. She was an avid collector of American girl dolls, a fan of Dr. Who on television and Law and Order-SVU shows. She was an advocate of the disadvantaged and those unable to advocate for themselves. Despite Barrett’s physical limitation this world has been a better place because of her existence.

Barrett is survived by her loving father, Harry Glenn Cumby and his friend, Teresa; one brother Jerry Pendleton and his wife, Melinda; an uncle Thomas Cumby; a great aunt, Doris Brown; two nieces, Madison and Macy Pendleton and her roommate, Dale Metts. The family wishes to thank to the staff of Heartland for their love and support they have shown Barrett over the past two years and to the staff of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Lynchburg General Hospital.

A celebration of Barrett’s life will be held Friday, March 30, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
