Obituary of Daniel Lee Taylor

Daniel Lee Taylor, III, 93, of Lynchburg, Virginia, died Sunday, June, 11, 2017, at Westminster Canterbury. He was the husband of Evelyn Price Taylor for 67 years. He was born on December 8, 1923 in Lynchburg, Virginia, the son of the late Daniel Lee Taylor, Jr. and Claire Taylor Slaughter. He was educated in the Lynchburg Public School System and served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He was the retired owner and President of Price and Clements, Incorporated. Dan was a long-time, active member of Peakland United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, son Christopher P. Taylor and his wife, Judy, of Forest, Virginia and son Charles L. Taylor of Norfolk, Virginia. Dan also had three step-grandchildren: Jennifer Martin of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Amanda and Shannon Bing, both of Richmond, Virginia. He is also survived by one step-great grandchild, Grace Martin of Holly Spring, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ann Taylor Watson and Brainard Taylor Phelps. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Spring Hill Cemetery, officiated by Reverend John Vest of Peakland United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Westminster Canterbury at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peakland United Methodist Church or the Fellowship Fund at Westminster Canterbury. His family offers sincere gratitude to the fifth-floor staff at the Hearthside Building at Westminster Canterbury for their superlative care of Mr. Taylor.
