Obituary of Richard Stevens Horner

Richard Stevens Horner, Jr. Richard Stevens Horner, Jr., 76, of Evington, died Tuesday June 13, 2017 at his residence. Born in Lynchburg, September 8, 1940, he was a son of the late Richard and Marion Horner. Mr. Horner graduated from Lynchburg College, was a teacher at Brookville High School, then worked at B&W, U. S. Airways, Peaks of Otter and Mann Fence Co. His interests included the beach, Peaks of Otter and gardening, with a special love for his tomato plants. He was a greeter at Blue Ridge Community Church which held a special place in his heart. Mr. Horner is survived by three children; Cindy Horner, of Scottsdale, AZ, Kristina BeCraft and husband Kris, of Forest, Scott Horner of Evington, and one sister Beverley Torode of Lynchburg; three grandchildren; Kaleigh and Kamden BeCraft, and Trevor Horner; Close friends, Terry and Barb Quaintance and Michael Hess. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Blue Ridge Community Church on New London Road, Forest, VA. The family will receive friends today from 6-7:30 PM at Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory, Waterlick Chapel (434-237-2722).
