Obituary of Eugene Wayne Garrett

Eugene "Gene" Wayne Garrett, 80, of Lynchburg passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Minnie Ginger Garrett of sixty-two years. Born on December 23, 1936, in Glasgow, Virginia, he was a son of the late David Marion and Mary Elizabeth Rice Garrett. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser. In addition to his wife, Minnie, he is survived by three daughters, Marsha Leigh Garrett, Michelle Garrett Keesee and her husband, Jon, and Cynthia "Cindy" Wilkerson and her husband, Scott; one son, Mark Wayne Garrett and his wife, Georgia, of Glen Allen, VA; seven grandchildren, Colin Hunter Crouch, Kelsey Crouch Morton (Adam), Kirk Alden Hicks, Chad Garrett Hicks, Jonathan Grey Keesee, Hannah Michelle Keesee, and Shannon Taylor Garrett; one great-granddaughter, Josie Rae Morton; three step granddaughters, Carrie Beth Wilkerson, Nichole Keesee McKenzie, and Kaylin Keesee Faris; one step-great-granddaughter, Aynslie Opal McKenzie; one brother-in-law, Charles Ginger; and a long-time family friend, W.C. Campbell. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kathleen Paul and all of the staff at The Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center and CENTRA Hospice for their great care, love and support.
