Obituary of Carolyn Woodford Harris

Carolyn Woodford Harris, 75, of Forest, VA., passed away ON Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of John Ballard Harris Jr. for fifty-two years. Born March 23, 1942, in Bedford County, she was a daughter of the late George and Helen Woodford. She was retired from Nationwide Insurance and a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her husband, "Junior", she is survived by two sons, Roger Alan Harris and his wife, Lisa and Edward Bryan Harris and his wife, Brandy; one daughter, Janet Harris Whitehead and her husband, George; ten grandchildren, Christie, Christopher (Brittney), Bradley, Destiny, Emily, Tyler, Sean, Kaylee, Mariah, and Madison; three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Zoey, and Xander; three sisters, Shirley Tibbs, Jenny Dalton (Jim), and Kathryne Dudley, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, MacKenzi Harris. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor Dan Manley officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, August 11, 2017, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alan B.
