Obituary of Rebecca Eleanor Burnette

Rebecca Eleanor Burnette, 94, of Forest, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at The Summit. Eleanor was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She was the loving wife of Richard Burnette for over 50 years. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Walkup (Sam), Rebecca Whorley (Curtis); three grandchildren, Bud Russell (Karen), Karen Sanderson (Tim) and Erin McCray (Clarence); six greatgrandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; one sister, Estelle Howard; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents Rush and Nannie Sue Burnette; two brothers, Bennie and Ashby Burnette and two sisters, Janie Viar, Frances Lewis. Eleanor was retired from General Electric. She was a member of the Lynchburg Rebekah Lodge 41. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Diuguid Funeral Service & Crematory Wiggington Rd. Chapel (434) 385-8900. Relatives and friends are welcome for visitation on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at Virginia Memorial Park.
