Obituary of Ethel Johnson Burks

Ethel J. Burks, 96, an angel on earth peacefully passed away December 7, 2017. Ethel was the wife of Cam Z. Burks. She is survived by her children who she loved so dearly; W. Elkin Burks of Chesapeake, Virginia, and daughter Nancy B. Freeman of Forest, Virginia; two grandchildren, Cam F. Schamp (Husband Tom) of Dallas, Texas and Wood W. Freeman (Wife Kelly) of Charlottesville, Virginia. Ethel was a wonderful great-grandmother f five and survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Throughout her life, Ethel was a radiant, loving and a generous woman whose energy was infectious and knew no bounds. She approached life with a great work ethic, and a positive perspective. Ethel met the challenges of life with courage, dignity, grace, humor, perseverance, self-discipline, and faith. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all those lucky enough to have met her. Per her request; she will have a graveside service on Monday, December 18, 2017, in Fort Hill Memorial Park at 11:00 AM. --
