Obituary of Rae Evans

Rae Evans, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Born September 19, 1933 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Edward Bernard and Ieilia Mays. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rae was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she worked the Angel Food Program for many years. She was a volunteer at the Lynchburg Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Additionally, Rae drove a school bus for Campbell County School System for 30 years. She is survived by four children, John E. Evans (Shirley), Robert L. Evans, Peter D. Evans (Becky) and Kathryn Evans Drinkard; one brother, Oscar Mays; seven grandchildren, Tina, Joan, Scott, Connor, Adam, Daniel and Eli ; six great-grandchildren with two on the way. She proceeded in death by one daughter, Christine Dawn Stone. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 7336 Timberlake Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Shackelford officiating.
